The 29th episode of the Left Of Lansing Podcast is posted!
While ousting the current occupant from The White House of crucial this November, we must also turn Michigan’s legislature blue!
Jody LaMacchia is trying to do just that as she’s running for Republican incumbent John Reilly’s state house seat in the 46th District. Reilly is a right-wing ideologue, and defeating him would go a long way in putting Democrats in control of Michigan’s State House.

But before my talk with Jody, I have a bit of a rant that I had to get out of my system. Michigan’s corporate right-wing forces attacked Governor Whitmer for doing her job of keeping us safe during a global pandemic. By fighting Whitmer, and demanding low-wage people to get back to work, the right-wing exposed itself as only caring about politics and profits.
And with the recent national protests, you’d better believe African-Americans see a link between being expected to work in the middle of a deadly virus outbreak and being expected to simply accept police brutality.
I conclude by talking about how Michigan’s fight against the LGBT community only ends-up hurting the state in the long run.
